We believe that better data leads to better decisions. By combining provider footprint analysis with actual negotiated rates, we're giving healthcare stakeholders the intelligence they need to compete, negotiate, and plan.
For decades, healthcare negotiations happened in the dark. Payers and providers negotiated rates without knowing what competitors were paying or receiving. Health systems made M&A decisions without understanding actual market rates. Consultants spent weeks manually assembling fragmented data.
The CMS Hospital Price Transparency Rule and Transparency-in-Coverage requirements changed everything. For the first time, negotiated rates between payers and providers are public. But raw machine-readable files aren't actionable intelligence. They're gigabytes of unstructured JSON that require specialized expertise to parse, normalize, and analyze.
That's where Healthdex comes in. We've built the infrastructure to ingest, process, and structure this transparency data at scale. We combine it with authoritative provider directories, quality metrics, and network footprint analysis to create a complete market intelligence platform. What used to take weeks of manual research now takes minutes.
Healthdex is a healthcare market intelligence platform that combines provider footprint analysis with actual negotiated rates. We serve health systems, payers, TPAs, and consultants who need to understand competitive landscapes, benchmark rates, evaluate M&A targets, design networks, and prepare for contract negotiations.
Our platform ingests machine-readable files from 6,000+ hospitals and major national payers, processes billions of negotiated rate records, and structures them into a queryable database. We overlay CMS quality programs (AHRQ, Hospital Compare, MIPS), provider directories (National Downloadable File, Facility Affiliation), and market definitions to give users the full context they need for strategic decisions.
We're fanatical about data quality. Every ingestion pipeline includes validation, error handling, and reconciliation. We document our methodology. We flag data gaps. We never extrapolate beyond what the source data supports. If we don't have the data, we say so.
We build for people who need answers, not data scientists. Our interfaces prioritize speed and clarity. We export to the tools people already use (Excel, PowerPoint, PDF). We make complex analysis accessible without requiring SQL or Python.
We're in active development. We ship updates based on customer feedback. We're transparent about our roadmap. Early customers shape the product through our design partner program. We believe the best products are built with users, not for them.
We don't take sides. We serve payers and providers equally. We present data objectively. We don't editorialize or advocate. Our job is to give you the intelligence you need to make your own strategic decisions.
We don't scrape websites or rely on crowdsourced data. We ingest from authoritative sources:
CMS Hospital MRFs: Machine-readable files from 6,000+ hospitals containing actual negotiated rates by DRG, payer, and facility. Updated monthly as hospitals refresh their files.
Transparency-in-Coverage Payer Files: In-network rate files from major national and regional payers. CPT-level negotiated rates for professional services, imaging, labs, and ambulatory procedures.
CMS Provider Directories: National Downloadable File (all NPIs), Facility Affiliation (hospital-provider relationships), Physician Compare (quality metrics), MIPS performance data.
CMS Quality Programs: Hospital Compare (readmissions, mortality, patient experience), AHRQ Compendium (inpatient quality indicators), HCAHPS survey results.
We process this data through validation pipelines, normalize coding systems (DRG, MS-DRG, APR-DRG, CPT, HCPCS), resolve entity identities (NPI, TIN, CCN), and structure it into a relational database optimized for market analysis queries.
We're always happy to talk about our data, our methods, or our roadmap. Reach out anytime.
